A Little Less Tchotch and A Lot More Action at BEA 2008

Published by Administrator on 06 Jun 2008

Ink & Paper Group participated in BEA (Book Expo America) again this year, proudly representing our four imprints and two new books (Bowler Hat’s Visibilityand Kid Beowulf) at booth #2712 (along “PubWest Row”) in the L.A. Convention Center.

With the help of BEA’s new librarian-friendly package ($ well spent), we had a sizable crowd of librarians and educators stopping by to inquire about our colorful banners as well as our “intriguing covers.” It also felt as though more business was taking place this year due to the obvious reduction in “free stuff” the second and third days. (Could it be that there’s more to the show than those cool canvas book bags and light-up pens???)

Seasoned favorites, Keeper of Secrets (Three Muses Press) and Hate Mail (Dame Rocket Press), also stepped back up to the plate, with a large mass of Hate Mail post cards leaving passersby with both a smile and a memorable mailing piece. And “What is up with that mysterious woman on the cover of Keeper?” they were asking. Marketing director, Allison Collins, and I had plenty of explaining to do, but the action didn’t stop there!

Since the show, there are talks of film rights, kickin’ manuscripts, green manufacturing (as in the environmentally friendly kind), as well as international distribution. All in all, it was a splendid experience, and the weather wasn’t too shabby either.

Thanks to any and all who stopped by our booth and to those who supported us from afar. Please stay tuned for more news and updates right here at www.InkandPaperGroup.com.
